From the President
It is hard to believe that another year is coming to an end. I want to thank everyone that made our Class Christmas Party such a success. It could not have happened without the setup help, decorators and especially the cooks. Thank you all for such a wonderful and tasty variety of foods. It was made extra special since the Yellow Rockers were able to join us for the meal.
In November we had our annual Canned Food Dance benefitting the Greenmont Food Pantry. With your help and that of the visiting clubs we were able to give them 213 cans and $3000.00. Thank you one and all.
Since I need to submit this article by mid-December, I get another opportunity to remind you of our New Year's Eve Dance. It will be at Hawker United Church of Christ, 1617 N. Longview St., Beavercreek, Oh 45432, ( just off Dayton-Xenia Rd, past Knollwood Garden Center) from 7:30pm - 1:00am. We will have multiple levels of square dancing and rounds. Our callers will be, Jack Pladdys, Ken Burke, and Elaine Wintrow. Tickets are $8 in advance, $9 at the door, and $7 for students, yes it is a HI/LO dance. If you pickup a flier you will find more information and a map.
In the coming months we will be having a few special dances. Our Blacklight is set for February 3, 2012, Recycle Sale is March 16, 2012, this will be a good time to clear out your closet of square dance attire you no longer want. On February 17, 2012, we will have our Honor Couple Dance. This year our Honor Couple is Betsy Nushawg and Charlie Neu.
From now until graduation, most of the clubs will be offering HI/LO dances. So, to all our Yellow Rockers and Kittyhawks students, please try to attend. Yes, you will probable breakdown, it still happens to the rest of us, but only by dancing will you become more familiar and comfortable with the calls and the different callers.
Each caller has his/her own style, some call too fast, others can be difficult to understand. Trust your fellow dancers to help you and remember you are doing this for FUN.
If all goes according to plan you will be reading this before Christmas, so I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. To those that are traveling for the holidays, safe journey. See you in a square.

From the Vice President
Winter is well on its way this year. Winter can provide some challenges, especially as the snow falls. Driving in particular can become hazardous. If we need to because of weather conditions, we will cancel lesson class. Please call the Miami Valley Dance Council hotline number (937) 294-5511, to check if lesson class is still being held during inclement weather. Our club dances the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Fridays. The rest of our dances are high/low. Everyone can attend our dances.
I would like to thank the angels who come every Tuesday night. WE could not have a lesson class without you. I would like to encourage the students to come every week. Each week builds on the previous week; a good foundation is needed to succeed and enjoy square dancing.

From the Raid Chairmen
Merry Christmas!
This newsletter will be passed out before Christmas and will run through the end of February, with everyone looking for signs of Spring! So many holidays and special happenings for this time! Jack Pladdys is calling ALL students and angels to come to the Holiday Special Dance at Venus and Mars, so check out more information in the newsletter and plan on going! Then Kitty Hawk's will be joining together to start off the New Year with the Annual New Year's Dance. Most of the raid and retrievals are high low, we want you students to come and join us. How about making a goal of getting your Snoopy badge? Only 5 raids and you will have earned it and then for every 20 raids you will earn a jewel for it. In February, we will be going to Valentine's dances and will be looking toward Spring!
Please give me your email address if you do not receive the weekly raid note. Sometimes we have car pools and meet to eat before a dance. This information is given there. Don't forget the hotline number in case of inclement weather, 937-294-5511.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Valentine's Day.
Tim and Patty Dunn
